Is backslash an opensource project?
Is backslash an opensource project?. I could not find the source code in launchpad.
I do don’t mind whether its opensource or closed. In my opinion, hosting your backslash shell code in Github can attract more developers and the development will be fast. I heard like there is no scarcity of developers in India… 🙂
Take a Close look on Wikipedia Infobox, It’s clearly stated that it is “Free software” and it’s nowhere stated that it is “Open Source“.
Thanks for spending time to answer my question. I have one question regarding the updates.
How do you manage backslash related updates?. Is there any mechanism like ppa to push updates?. I saw your website list a message of backslash update which user need to download manually and apply.
For now there’s no repository. However, we are going to implement a repository soon so that the updates can be delivered. Right now, Updates are delivered by using Ubuntu’s servers only. For this only packages which are included in the official Ubuntu Repository are only included.
Thanks for the clarification. Backslash specific repository will be a great idea to push updates automatically. I hope it will be available in your next version.
Meanwhile I am playing little bit with Kristoff.
